Empowering Women Through Farming: The Story Behind Adya Organics

Empowering Women Through Farming: The Story Behind Adya Organics

Just like mother earth provides for us without asking for anything in return, women across rural India have been toiling for generations, feeding and sustaining their families, often without any reward or recognition. At Adya Organics, we place these women at the forefront of our journey. Not as labourers, but as leaders, innovators and changemakers in the world of organic farming.

Empowering women through farming is the core essence of our homegrown brand. Behind every bottle of our Organic Honey, every pouch of Date Palm Jaggery and every batch of painstakingly churned Bilona Ghee, stand strong women working hand-in-hand with mother nature. They are breaking generational barriers, cultivating legacy and harvesting a better life for their families.

When we support women in farming, we don’t just produce better food, we move towards  stronger families, more resilient communities and a future rooted in care.

The Gender Gap

While women contribute nearly 75 to 80 percent of agricultural labour in India, less than 13 percent are land owners. This sharp gap between contribution and control has existed for generations, reinforcing cycles of economic dependence and invisibility. By offering traditional training, consistent work and access to resources, the gender divide in agriculture can be bridged. The narrowing divide tends to empower women to open bank accounts, manage transactions and take charge of their own finances. And when women gain agency in agriculture, the impact extends far beyond a single household. It uplifts entire communities.

Daughters Of The Soil

Adya Organics was born in 2001 at a small gaushala in Dehradun. Bringing back the purity and authenticity of dairy farming and harvesting methods from the Vedic age without any shortcuts or additives was our motto. As we spent our days in the field, we recognised that women were the heart of rural farming ecosystems. They were silently sowing, weeding, milking and harvesting. They were the backbone of rural agriculture, yet they rarely got the training, recognition or income.

This was our calling. We made a conscious choice of giving women farmers the voice they deserved. We built a network of women who could lead. Now, we work directly with female farmers and farm workers across our locations, offering them access to knowledge, equipment and dignified employment.  We provide training in soil health, composting, seasonal crop cycles and more. We offer them dignified, long-term employment along with access to equipment, financial stability and leadership roles.

A Mother’s Vision at Work

Pure, organic and authentic are words that describe motherly love and care. Envisioning and articulating these into dairy products is Pallvi Sinha, our manager and a mother of three. Through her ventures at the farms, she is building empowerment on the field and a legacy inspired by tradition.

Her vision goes beyond clean labels. It is about building a healthier world for her children and for generations to come. Whether it’s our Natural Sweeteners, Kachi Ghani Oils, Flour, Dairy or Healthy Snacking Options, Pallavi along with her mighty army of mothers, ensures that what reaches your table is as close to nature as it gets.

Honouring Shakti in Every Jar

In the Vedic tradition, the earth is known as Bhumi Devi, the divine mother. As a brand built on the foundation of Vedic culture, we believe in honouring Shakti, the divine feminine energy that exists both in nature and in women who work with it. We avoid synthetic chemicals and respect the natural cycles of the earth. Across our farms in Uttarakhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, women are at the forefront of manufacturing. Our Raw Forest Honey, collected with traditional techniques and our Woodpressed Mustard Oil, extracted without heat or chemicals, are testaments to their skill and resilience. These women are not only sustaining their families but also preserving generations of agricultural wisdom.

Every time you buy Adya Organics, you support real stories of transformation. Women who were once invisible in the farming chain now lead teams, manage production and shape their own futures. With every jar, every bottle and every spoon, you become part of this journey.

Because when daughters of the soil rise, the entire ecosystem thrives.
